Chair of urban planningThe chair of urban planning is one of the leading modern scientific schools of urban planning in Ukraine. It was licensed in the institution of higher education of the III-IV level of accreditation – Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture, and corresponds to one of three architectural specialties approved by the Ministry of Education and Sciences of Ukraine – “Urban Planning” as well as to the specialization “Landscape Architecture”.On April 1st , 1983, within the architectural faculty of Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture was founded the chair of “Architectural planning of population aggregates and industrial complexes”, which since the year 1991 is titled as the chair of “Urban Planning”. On the chair of Urban Planning in June 2008 within the “Urban Planning” specialty was licensed the specialization “Landscape Architecture”, which provides training of specialists and masters of Landscape Architecture. For 23 years, from 1983 to 2006, the Chair had been headed by Doctor of Architecture, Professor, Honoured Architect of Ukraine, eminent scientist in the field of Urban Planning – Fomin Igor Oleksandrovych, the initiator and founder of the Chair. From 2006 to June of 2009 the htad of the Chair of Urban Planning was Doctor of Architecture, eminent scientist in the field of Urban Planning, Professor, People's Architect of Ukraine, Director of Ukrainian State Research Institution of town planning “DIPROMISTO” – Bilokon Urij Mykolajovych, who has been working at the Chair since 1987. Since July 2009 the Candidate of Architecture, Professor, correspondent member of the Academy of Architecture of Ukraine and of the Academy of Construction of Ukraine Kushnirenko Maria Markivna was appointed the director of the Chair of Urban Planning. The Chair of Urban Planning is the most significant and the biggest one at the architectural faculty. The number of instructors of the Chair makes up 28 persons, almost 40% of them are practicing architects of leading Kyiv institutions, mainly of Ukrainian State Research Institution of town planning “DIPROMISTO”. Among the teaching staff of the Chair there are 2 People’s Architects of Ukraine (T.F. Panchenko, V.B. Zhezherin), 3 doctors of science (T.F. Panchenko, G.P. Pidgrushnyj, U.M. Paleha), 3 professors (T.F. Panchenko, M.M. Kushnirenko, V.B. Zhezherin), 6 candidates of science (M.M. Kushnirenko, V.O. Jatzenko, L.G. Vasylenko, V.T. Shpakovska, I.I. Ustinova, A.A. Dzyba), full and correspondent members of the Academy of Architecture of Ukraine and of the Academy of Construction of Ukraine, members of the International Academy of Architecture, Russian Academy of Architecture and Construction science, IKOMOS, ISOCARP etc. The academic training at the Chair is characterized by two-stage structure, which in accordance with the Bologna Process corresponds to the levels of training of bachelors and specialists as well as masters. The specialization of training is provided in two areas: “Urban Planning” and “Landscape Architecture”. In order to approximate the teaching process to designing practice as far back as in 1985 the branch of the Chair was opened in the nearest in terms of specialty design institute “DIPROMISTO”. Long-lasting positive experience of cooperation between the institute “DIPROMISTO” and the Chair of Urban Planning has created the grounds to create in accordance with the Regulations of the Ministry of education and science of Ukraine the field study complex “Archmistobud”. The complex is sanctioned by the decree of the Minister of education and science of Ukraine ¹ 269 of 03.07.2003 and is put into operation by the order of the administrators of Derzhbud of Ukraine and KNUCA. The only at the Faculty of Architecture scientific field study complex “Archmistobud”, organized on the basis of the institute “DIPROMISTO” and the Chair of Urban Planning of KNUCA, essentially contributed into the development of scientific and educational-methodological work of the Chair in the modern period, as well as into the development of the academic training, holding design practice, employment of the students and graduates. For the purpose of integration of architectural schools of urban planning, defining the problem of training and employment of architectural personnel of urban planning specialty, approximation of the process of training of architectural personnel of urban planning specialty to the modern requirements of design and construction practice, improvement of the methodological and educational grounds of educational process at the urban planning chairs in 1999 the Permanent Higher education in the “Urban planning” specialty coordination council was founded. The director of the Chair Professor M.M. Kushnirenco was elected the Chairman of the Permanent Higher education in the “Urban planning” specialty coordination council. During these years the teachers of the Chair have prepared and published 2 text-books, 9 manuals, 12 monographies, 2 summaries of lectures and more than 65 methodological recommendations for developing the course and diploma assignment and conducting the lecture courses. Developed in 2003-2005 and approved by the Ministry of education and science of Ukraine standards (at the level of specialist, master) of experts’ training in the specialization of “Urban planning” and in the specialization “Landscape architecture” (prof. M.M. KKushnirenko). As a part of educational field study complex “Archmistobud” the Chair actively takes part in development of the state urban planning documents and programs. At the modern stage the scientific and research work at the Chair of Urban Planning is combined into the complex scientific theme “The experience and problems of Ukrainian territories and cities development under the modern socio-economic conditions” Within this complex research theme separate scientific directions are developed:
